"I would Rather Cut Off My Hand..."

That was the line uttered by Mildred Pierce (aka Joan Crawford) after she belted her daughter Veda for being a spoiled, rotten wench. And the movie that gave Joan Crawford an Oscar.

Mildred Pierce is one of those movies I can watch over, and over, and over again. And did. Last Night. TCM had it playing at midnight and I happened to catch it 20 minutes in and was transfixed until 2 this morning. Doesn't matter that I have the DVD. I love that movie. Don't know why, how or what got me even INTO that movie in the first place but, much like A Place In The Sun and Sabrina - those are the classic movies I adore.

So I'm feeling a tad bit tired today but it is oh so worth it!!! I'm sure TCM will play it again - for some Joan Crawford witchiness, it's worth the time.

And yes - this was the movie mentioned in Mommie Dearest. To this day, I don't like even LOOKING at wire hangers…
