Pleasantville, Resurrected...

I spent a good portion of the morning in Celebration, Florida as my father flew in to meet with his doctor for some routine mess. If you have ever been to Celebration, you know it's like a scene from a movie - picket fences, lovely houses, gorgeous landscaping, a main street filled with lovely little shops. Pleasantville, for real. It was during my trip driving in the blinding Florida sun that I made a discovery - Underneath this lovely looking picturesque town street lurks a silent evil... the jaywalker...

Jaywalker + blinding sun = Oh. My. God. NO I didn't hit the wench, but don't think I didn't consider my opinions in that split second. Yes, I know - I need to talk to a therapist about my deep seated tourist issues....

Also - interesting conversation between myself and a Celebration local yokel (CL)

Picture this - I'm mixing a coffee at Starbucks (yes - they HAVE a Starbucks - much to the chagrin of the locals who preferred Barnies)... and this older gentlemen, CL steps up to the counter and proceeds to yammer away:

CL: I'm deciding what to put in my coffee - I am a man, you know.
Lys: Ummm.. (rather uncomfortably) Decisions, Decisions
CL: So many choices these days. But I can think for myself.
Lys: Good for you!
CL: AND - I can walk and talk at the same time. Not bad huh?
Lys: That's great - you deserve a cookie!!
CL: See - Men aren't all that bad.
Lys: Good luck with that. (and I QUICKLY beat it out of that store)

AM I BRANDED A BIATCHE?? Seriously - I about fell out laughing... This totally beats one of my friends screaming outside my apartment the other night and singing Mariah Carey. What is this world coming to??
