Watching The Prom From The Sidelines...

As I sit here growling tonight watching my favorite award show of the night, I sit here with a bit of resentment but it's something I'll work through and, while I should be in LA tonight sitting in the cheap seats with Reese, Jas, MB and Rome, I'm not. I'll instead be in Philly in a couple weeks with Reese meeting with a couple clients who, if we have our way, will be up for Grammy consideration again next year.

But bitterness aside, how about those awards tonight - and the performances?? Hot damn - I've had three weepy moments already - the Frank Sinatra/Alicia Keys duet, Tina Turner (I refuse to get weepy for Beyonce) and Ms. Aretha. The Time kicked ass tonight, Stacey (Fergie) sang my favorite song with John Legend and Kanye's speech was touching. Even Luda made me giggle.

Hopefully next year we'll be back at the prom. Don't get me wrong - I'm far from upset with the writers. I'm thrilled that they struck a deal and also granted NARAS a waiver to have the show tonight. You can't hold out on a 50th Anniversary but, if I know those people at NARAS, next year's gig will top this years even more.
