Inspired by Lipstick Jungle...

Y'all know how much I adore that show, Lipstick Jungle, right? Well, many moons ago (shush, last season, mmmkkkayyy?), I lamented to one Ms. Bren of Flanboyant Eats that I needed a pearl necklace much like the one Victory Ford wore on the show. Well, my friends, I found it - AND it was at Tar-Jayyyyyy, not South Street in Philly. The price tag made dealing with the characters I encountered at the crazy store all that much better. Well, somewhat, but you know me and my crazy ass encounters in this town and my lack of keeping my opinions to myself.

So, I played with Polyvore and in true LabelHo fashion (love her blog and if you don't read it - start please - she's returning soon!), I created this little "What I Wore Today." Well, a jist of what today's outfit was because the wrap top is from Spiegel, the cami from Torrid and my heels - love the Stuarts but boy do they hurt. You would think after runnin' around the Bourbon without tripping on the cobblestones, they'd be broken in by now (shush Meowmix and Rifleman - I can walk in heels, but just not when Ant's mixing the cocktails).

Today, it was all about the fashion, well, Philly style because if anything, I certainly do not dress like a gal from Orlando.

I love fall fashion... seriously, I do.

FW: Shoe Love: The Fabulous Flats Edition...

In keeping with the whole "Flats can be Fabulous" thing that I'm trying to apply... check out some lovely things I found.

Check out these new red va va voom croc Tory Birch flats for fall.

Oscar De la Renta has this gorgeous IKAT Ballerina flat that makes me give them a second glance.

Nine West has the MAE flat which can go well for either work or play.

These are something I would look at for casual -Cole Haan Air Bria.

Purple is going to be *the* color for fall. Steve Madden has a fabulous purple patent flat - the Salinas

What about the Peep Toe flat? Stuart Weitzman's Chit Chat is quite the rage.

One thing about Flats - they are easy to pack, always look chic and, if you have the right pair, are comfy as well. Now if only I could get over this "I'm Short" issue and embrace Flats 24/7. I think my feet might thank me.

Calling All Shoe Detectives...

Since we are on the topic of shoes, the show, etc., I need your help.

I need to find the shoes profiled in this pic below (or something similar because I'm not rolling in dough like the wearer of said shoes is). This is from the Regis & Kelly High Heel A Thon this week in NYC. Apparently, Ms. Ripa apparently graduated to 5" heels and they are to. die. for. I just can't find them anywhere and am heading out to the Millenia Mall to see if they have something out there. I know you gals might have some suggestions so leave 'em in the comments!

Breathtaking: Christian Louboutin Loubounight Laminato Clutch

I balked at the price, of course, but found the Christian Louboutin Loubounight Laminato Clutch to be not only breathtaking but adorable. My fave detail - the clasp.

You have to GOT to read this part though. Our dear Christian did not forgo his trademark red:

From SAKS.com:
    • A whimsical frame bag for evening, in ruched nappa leather with a signature
      high-heel clasp.

    • Silvertone hardware

    • Shoe snap closure with signature red "soles"

    • Red satin lining with leather logo patch

Stunning... so very stunning. One day my friends, one day.

Oh Really, Mr. Talley...

While watching the season finale of Life In The Fab Lane, Kimora Lee Simmons' reality show, I heard the funniest line.

Andre Leon Talley, Editor at Large for Vogue, while at a fitting for Kimora Lee Simmons' gown for the Costume Institute Ball at the Met, remarked: "She's going to look spectacular because I never make a mistake"

Hmmm.. Mr. Talley - remember this dress blooper for which Jennifer Hudson is forever cursed?

Thought so.

Be Still My Heart...Again...

Or As FB would say: "Shoe Porn"... The Pre-Fall season is starting to hit the websites along with some great summer offerings so here are some lovely shoe finds around the way for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to go to your local Saks/Neimans/Nordys etc. to fondle and try on. It will definitely brighten your mood a bit.

First up, Claudia Ciuti's Tamarindo

And for those that want a "flatter" version... the Tiglio

Fall is my favorite season and that means I can wear boots and booties (love them!). Oscar De La Renta has a gorgeous cutout shoe bootie that is so stunning I had heart palpitations

I'm a sucker for tortoiseshell prints so when I saw these Giuseppe Zanotti Tortoiseshell Pumps, you know I'm going to be a fondling fool at the local Neimans (and they are cheaper than the Loubou version from last year... )

I also am a sucker for teal. These have me intrigued for fall: Miu Miu Teal Elastic Booties

I find the heel detail on these Gucci Roma pumps intriguing.

You can't go wrong with Manolo Blahnik's version of the "Holy Grail" aka the Mary Jane pump. I found the turquoise snakeskin Manolo Mary Jane delish

And Manolo also switched it up a bit with their Burgundy Buckled Mary Janes

And, while I adore the Giuseppe Zanotti Bucked Pump

Your gal is going to be getting the look for less with the MUCH cheaper Guess Version - the Cabana Mary Jane Pump

My Confession: Impulse Buys Are Not The Answer...

Yesterday, I was telling my girlfriends:
  • No, I'm NOT going to get that Kooba bag I've been salivating after. even though it's on sale for 30% off at Bloomies.com with cash back. I'm going to pay down a credit card.

  • No, I'm NOT going to get the Stuart Weitzman Degadis shoes I've been dreaming about lustfully for a year even though they are on sale at over 40% off at Nordys and I can get cash back. I'm going to behave.

  • No, I'm NOT going to get those Max Studio sandals I featured earlier. I'll wait til it gets closer to Philly before I buy them.

  • No, I have broken up with Bakers Shoes. C'mon - they make Jessica Simpson shoes. You know how I feel about them. Totally trendy. Definitely not long lasting.

My dear readers, I've failed you and failed oh so miserably. Here I am waxing poetic on the quality of shoes blah blah blah, going to pay down debt (even though my student loans are almost 70% paid off - hurrah!), trying to get the bills in check and I decide tonight to ONLY fondle the Max Studio shoes.

I got out late and decided to check out the Altamonte Mall's Macy*s and I looked through the shoe department - found nothing. Looked at clothes, decided to go through my closet this weekend for meetings on Monday and Tuesday. I browsed M.A.C. going "Eeeh - friends and family is this weekend - I'll just wait to get a couple things with my coupon." And then I figured "Crap, why don't I just go LOOK at Bakers and see what they got. It's 5 minutes and this way I can see those gladiators up close."

BIG MISTAKE - BIG BIG MISTAKE.

Lys + Shoe Store = TROUBLE

I walk in, find a pair of sandals that are cute and only $19.99 - fine for something trendy that might not last and as they are getting my size, I see the gladiators. Eeeh - they are cute but I decided that I liked the Max Studio shoes better. As I'm waiting, I see one of the salesgirls with the gladiators IN BROWN and they are sharp - so damn sharp.

I immediately sent my salesgirl on a mission to FIND those shoes in brown. She said that they didn't have them in 10 in brown but she'd check, just to be safe. Like a sign from above, she comes out bearing the brown gladiators in my size. Needless to say, the $19.99 sandals were NOT going home if I was buying these new ones at full price. The gladiator wearing chick told me that she had been wearing them all day and they are on their feet like crazy and she wasn't crippled in pain. That's a good sign. I said "But are they WELL made?? Seriously - be truthful" and, having dealt with me before, she assured me I won't be disappointed nor will they be coming back..

Behold my new lovelies...

Someone is going to be in trouble when I get up to Philly... :::heh:::

Obsessed With: Christian Louboutin's New Open-Toe Passementerie Pump

Do you think if I use The Secret appropriately, these suckers Christian Louboutin lovelies will be on my feet by my birthday...

:::sigh:::

Or, perhaps, Steve Madden might hear my wallet's cry for a similar shoe?

Cha-Cha-ing the Night Away...

For those that saw the S&TC movie... these shoes.. you see them right there - the Gladiators that she wore throughout the film. Well, I am of the opinion that these shoes need to be in the closet - specifically MY closet. And now I've got a look in my head and its centered around a pair of cha-cha-cha sandals for Philly.

Well, my friends, let me display what I have found online that has me going "Hello Lovahhhhhhh"

When one is looking for something that is ummm.. a replica, you immediately know you have to go to the king of imitation (I'm saying it tongue in cheek so back down SMLegalCounsel!), where else, Steve Madden. So you must check out this somewhat wallet friendly pair.

This sandal from MAXStudio had me captivated the MINUTE I got the email from Piperlime. The fact I could possibly purchase it online, cash back that sucker from Nordys and go there to pick it up has me going "Hmmm.. possibly"

And Bakers threw their hat in the ring with their Gladys sandal, but, I have made it known that I'm not really a fan of too much Bakers in a gal's closet - call it my Jessica Simpson shoe paranoia (did you know they made her shoes - the ones that a couple Nordys people told me are allegedly so shoddy that they cracked in half and don't hold up to normal wear and tear). Hmmmm.

What's on your radar for summer shoes?

Fashion Inspiration: Jewelry from S&TC Movie...

I was looking at Bag, Borrow & Steal the other day (Shhhh - just LOOKING 'k?? I'm perfectly happy with the Cole bag - just don't tell the bag I was looking at others and we'll all be okay). They had a segment on Sex & The City and I figured just for kicks and giggles I would take a looksee.

It was like heaven - a bizillion clicks later and I wanted to go through my wardrobe and figure out what stays and what goes. I am sometimes inspired by things I see which makes me run to my closet with a renewed sense of purpose. I haven't done that since the premiere of Lipstick Jungle (which is out on DVD on Tuesday - sqeeeeeeee!). Friends of mine that have gone shopping with me know that sometimes it's not for the "shopping" I go - but wandering through the stores inspires me to think of what I do have and how to switch it up.

There was one jewelry designer I have fallen hard for - MIRIAM HASKELL. I am a sucker for a good pearl necklace (multiple strands) and this necklace had me going "I'll go without new shoes for a full season!" Isn't it gorgeous? Her whole line is gorgeous - and inspiring.

One day, Lys. One day.

Pleasure & Pain...

If I wasn't on self imposed financial grounding I'd seriously consider this Alexis Hudson bag for OurBuddy's Soiree...

Secondly, you know those shoes I was pitchin' a fit about for having at OurBuddy's soiree? It got to the point where I was plotting calling my editor and publicist buddies due to their corporate office customer service (HORRIBLE!). However, their awesome district manager, Ron (LOVE him!) saved my behind and had these located and shipped ON rush. I get them INTO my office today, all psyched, rip open the package and slide them onto my feet. I break them in for 2 hours (sitting - shush, don't judge!) and then switch out as I was going to the 'Bucks with my boy SL. I get back and figure, sure, I'll slide them on and stand up. The view was MUCH taller than normal. They are supposed to be 4" stilettos. From their website:

A closed back open toe pump in printed patent combinations makes this shoe
shine. A 4' heel gives you that high off the ground look but wiht
[sic]
a 1/2' hidden platform it lets you walk all day or night in comfort. Made in Brazil of the finest leathers.

Either someone in Brazil can't measure or they can't type (obviously that's true because of the spelling error) but those puppies were 5". 5 inches!! I even took a ruler to it. I'm either going to use them as self defense weapons or wonder if I should have a lucite platform in it instead of the coral. So, they have now been christened my "Hookah Shoes". And no, they are not being worn to the Soiree. Sadly, I think they will cripple me by that point and my happy behind will be in flats. But they are gorgeous. I just have to learn to walk all over again. At least they don't make my feet numb like the Weitzmans (which are going BACK!)

Ahhh.. how a gal has to suffer for beauty...

I Promise I'll Be Good (Or Naughty...)

Oh these sandals are fabulous.
Obviously, I'm on shoe punishment for a bit, however, you know I'm scheming to see if I can pick them up at the King of Prussia Nordys when I fly up to Philly...

Shoe Love...

I told y'all that while I was shopping "blindly", I decided that shoes would make me feel better, right? I have been in lust with a pair of coral Chanel pumps since I fondled them in Palm Beach. They were vibrant, gorgeous and oh so stunning. The price, well - you can figure it out since it's Chanel. Tho, I have to confess, I did seriously think of raiding the emergency fund but thought twice.

So, Friday night, when I was walking to LensCrafters, I passed by Cathy Jean, a fabu European shoe store that I sometimes shop in. And this shoe caught my eye. It was the same brilliant coral as the Chanels and it was stunning, felt very well made and I knew I had to have it. Sadly, they did not have it in a 10, but the gal was sweet enough to let me try it on in the Black shade and it fit like a glove. I ordered it and it should be here by next week.

Also, I finally caved into my ombre obsession. While I still heart the SW version, I decided to go a bit cheaper and get the Baker's peep toe ombre pump. It was $39.99 and it will be rocked this week for a big client presentation.

Clearly, Imelda Marcos needs to give me her title of shoe queen.

Oh Shoe Fairy, May I...

I'm in love.. absolutely in love - with these Christian Louboutin Draponova lovelies. They say that nude pumps are the *it* thing for spring and these are stunning.

However, the price and I are not really on speaking terms, even if it is BlueFly.

Would You Buy This? L.A.M.B. Darrel Pump...

I saw the Gold/Silver version when I was in Nordys last and, without seeing the tag, I went "Hmmm.. interesting" and then I saw the price tag. And then I saw the L.A.M.B. and thought "WTH?" Ok - yes, they look different but at $335? Which leads me to wonder how some celeb/fashion lines charge so damn much. You pretty much have to take out a second mortgage to buy some of their items. Then again, I am turning into a SW aficionado so I need to take a step back.

Would YOU purchase this if you had the disposable funds available over, let's say, a noted shoe designer such as Manolo, Gucci or Christian Louboutin?

What Were They Thinking...

I'm virtual shoe shopping (because your gal wants that damn DVD this weekend) but I need to indulge my inner shoe ho. I'm still breaking in the SWs and got some nasty blisters from the "sensible" Naturalizer pumps from yesterday, but I'm trying to find a little inspiration - even if it is through the computer screen.

And then I saw these shoes.

Seriously - I know they are Chloe and all, but would you EVEN think about wearing these?

It's not just the high end cursed by this case of the "WWTT-Fugly Syndrome" Bakers, apparently, has jumped on the bandwagon. Check out the:

What do you think?

Hello Lovah....

So last Friday, as I confessed to y'all, my girl Diane told me about Bluefly having *THE* Tortoiseshell shoes that I have been lusting after for basically forever - the Stuart Weitzman Fever pumps. Well, not only did Bluefly have them cheaper, but they were over $100 cheaper by the time I was done with coupons and cash back. Oh. My. Holy. Hell.

Saturday I get the email that they had shipped and knowing that I only did standard shipping. I started second guessing my purchase after reading reviews, looking at finances, etc. and was thinking - well, they'll be here in 7 to 10 business days and I'll decide then.

WRONG! OH So Wrong. As I got home tonight from the 9to5, there was a box in front of my apartment - just sittin' there. Normally I would be pissed as all hell for something left in front of my door but not tonight.

SO, behold my new lovelies which have found a new home with yours truly.

Bluefly went First Class!

Even the box had me at hello.

Breathtaking. The picture doesn't do it justice.

My first Carrie Bradshaw-esque shoe purchase. It's gonna take a few days of breaking in and blister block and getting used to the huge pointy toe but I can also justify it as self defense weapons, no?

I'm a SW convert, finally. The other shoes that I wasn't sure about keeping but yet hesitant about returning this morning are going back. That money is going back in the account. While the other shoes are pretty - they are not THESE shoes. And I'm thrilled with this purchase and so thankful to Diane for the heads up.

I'm in love... with my choos.
