Holiday Online Shopping - Getting More Bang For The Buck...

I'm one of those gals who avoids much of the holiday chaos- namely Black Friday and the chaotic mall shoppers.  Why should I feed the frenzy when I can maximize my dollar with online sales, shopping and cash back, right?

Well, here's the refresher course for y'all along with some new finds and for the new readers - welcome, bookmark and enjoy.

First of all, here are the sites to sign up with - g'head, it should open in a new window so I'll wait for ya.

Cash Back:

Coupon Sites

Now that you are all signed up and bookmarked, here's how this works.  First thing you need to understand is that most cash back will be available 60-90 days after the purchase - to allow for returns, etc.  So, let's say you are doing your holiday shopping - well, in March, you should be getting some extra green in your wallet - just in time for St. Patty's Day and everyone is a winner.

Start off with going to EVReward to see who offers the MOST cash back - that's vital.  If you know where you are going to shop, then why not get the best deal out there, right?

I often know the item I'm looking for - like, let's say a great pair of Elizabeth & James shoes from ShopBop.  I head to EVReward to see who's giving the most cash back on ShopBop which is, in this case, Cashbaq with 7% cash back on my purchase.  So, let's say I buy the boots I've been coveting - which are $276.  7% cash back of that will mean that come March, $19.32 will be my cash back reward.  To maximize my cash back dollar, I will also make note of any coupon codes for ShopBop through RetailMeNot.com or any of the other coupon sites that have done great by me in the past. Works like a charm every. single. time.  Often you can find coupons for free shipping, etc. especially with the retailers wanting to make this holiday season their best one ever.

Here's another thing - my bff, Meowmix, often shops online via eBay.   Did you know you can get cash back for any eBay shopping?   Big Crumbs offers up to 36% cash back.  Bing! offers 10% cash back while Ebates offers 2%.  You see where I'm going with this.

Now, for those of you buying those big ticket items from, let's say BestBuy - here's my suggestion - buy online through Bing! with 5% cash back, select the "Pick Up In Store" option and you don't even have to worry about the shipping.  Most times, it's ready in an hour or so and you don't have to deal with all the craziness.  This helps especially when you are looking for that TV, Video Game System or other high ticket item and you don't want any shipping drama but still want the maximum cash back.

Basically - most of the stores you shop online are on the cash back wagon and why shouldn't you be too?

Now, the disclaimers - keep track of your purchases and receipt emails to make sure that you get credit for everything.  Most of the cash back companies are great with tracking, but some purchase can fall through the cracks.  Just send their customer service an email after a week or so and they'll jump right on it.  Secondly, yes there are referral links which means that both you and I are getting a Win/Win as they put a little something in your cash back stocking.

I am happy to say that after 3 years of living the cash back mantra, I can never go back to online shopping the old way.  I always make sure that I've maximized everything through cash back and coupon codes and couldn't be happier.  Heck, I've even gotten cash back for my cable installation - who the heck knew you could do that.

So, while the holiday brings out the crazy in shopping, know that you can enjoy CyberMonday behind the computer with your coffee in one hand and the mouse in the other as you click your way to cash back happiness.  And, if you have any questions, know that I'm only an email away to help.

Happy Shopping!

Obsessed With: Elizabeth & James Lace Pumps...

You know, I detest loving this new line by the Olsen twins.  I see a pair of their shoes, not know it's made by them and *boom* fall in love - HATE IT!  And what's worse is I have a pair of E&J boots that fit fabulously (yes, THOSE boots I waxed poetic about before).  Not to mention the quality is stellar.  Perhaps I should get over my celebrity brand issue, huh (except with Jessica Simpson - that one will NOT change.  Same with J-Lo.  And Britney Spears.  And.... let me shush).

So now they have these Elizabeth & James Lace pumps and I adore anything lace.  Couple that with the buttons down the heel and they had me at hello.  So now this means I'm going to start scouring for coupons/sales/cash back and hope my size doesn't sell out in the meantime.

*le sigh*

Meet Mini-Bout...

The Loubous arrived on Saturday and, oh my heavens, they are gorgeous - a rich chocolate brown that just is set off perfectly against the red peep toe. Granted the cell phone pic quality sucks compared to the in person view as evidenced by a co-worker's loud exclamation of "SHUT UP" when she saw the telltale red sole. My slow preparation of advancing to 4"+ heels over the past year helped me adjust to the height of these lovelies so I wasn't walking like a baby calf taking her first steps. I was meant for Loubous - of that I'm sure.

Ahhhhh - there is no going back, my friends. Trust me I'll be wearing the living daylights out of these shoes but even FB of Fashionably Broke In The City would be proud of the deal I scored...

However, it dawned on me that I mentioned that I would get Mini Bout Peep Toes by CL in 2009 as part of my "Secret" goals. Little did I know that I would find the exact shoes I've been lusting after that just happened to be in my size at the right time and the right price. I'm blessed indeed...

Setting Goals - Stiletto Style...

Have you ever said "If XYZ happens, then I'm going to [do something]" as a sort of reward for putting up with the grief that you had to endure? Well, without going into TOO much detail, let's just say that I remarked to Kar, Meowmix and SL that if a certain situation played out a certain way, this gal was just going to bite the bullet and buy her damn Loubous. I mean, I put up with way more grief then a gal should EVER have to put up with.

Sadly, as predicted, that situation is drawn out longer than an episode/season/year of American Idol and there would be no Loubous for me. However, the universe is consoling a gal because in my ShopStyle email today (love them! Seriously love them!) I heard about a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti pumps in my size, my style - classic, were marked down from $545 to

wait for it

wait for it

$109.00

AND to boot, I could get cash back for it AND free shipping. Granted they are final sale and all but if it doesn't work out - up on Ebay they go.

One might think that apparently the Universe also feels my pain. I'm still gonna get my Loubous, but I just made a different goal for me to achieve that milestone.

Aren't these gorg? :::le sigh:::

Cash Back: A Refresher Course For The Holidays..

Well, the holidays are upon us and I've been requested to give a little refresher course in all things cash back and coupons to help you get a little extra something in your stockings.

As y'all know, I do most of my shopping online. I detest the malls during the holidays and, for those that know me, that's tough to hear. I have no patience in bad customer service, annoying customers or crowds. I'd rather mill about enjoying the sights and sounds rather than worry about that "perfect" gift. SO - without further adieu - this is how your gal shops.

First of all, I have to have a game plan. For example, let's use my mother (sorry Mom and NO this is not your Xmas gift - just an example!)

Over Thanksgiving, she disclosed to me that she has been using bargain spices from Big Lots! Now, should I decide to cure her of this bad habit (because I'm a foodie snob), I know I'd need to replenish her spice cabinet with spices from one of my favorite culinary stores, Dean & Deluca. My theory is if the Barefoot Contessa uses it, then the product HAS to be top notch. Good vanilla and all!

First step: Research to see if there are any coupons on RetailMeNot.com, CouponCabin.com or UltimateCoupons.com . If there are, make note of the codes and maximize them for the ultimate savings.

Second Step: Research to see who has the highest cash back through EVRewards.com (sometimes you get good coupons on here as well).

Third Step: Select your cash back portal to use. I only use four sites: Fat Wallet, Ebates, Mr. Rebates or CashBaq . There are others, but I've had the best luck with those four and, personally, I use Mr. Rebates and Ebates the most.

Fourth Step:Find the item you are looking for, purchase and viola! You will get cash back, ultimate savings and a nice little somethin' somethin' for you in March because it takes about 90 days for the available funds to be posted.

So to recap: the Cash Back sites to bookmark/sign up at are:
Happy Shopping!

Lord Forgive Me...

For I have bought new shoes, again.*

Specifically, I have procured the Report Signature Newbury Platform Sandal in Fuschia. I saw them in an ad and on The Shoe Goddess, remembered that post where I whined incessantly about that daggone Kelly Ripa dictating shoe choices, reverted back to my teen years and made the plunge.

However, in my defense, I got them online with coupons, cash back, free shipping & free returns.

I'm sure that Philly in Nov. might be too cold for these lovelies, but for the sake of fashion, I will take one for the team. Because, for one's birthday, one must be the belle of the ball and how can I not be with these gorgeous stilettos.

A gal has to note that these new beauties now catapults me into the 5" Stiletto club. That, in of itself, brings a whole new wealth of knowledge. Specifically, to my male friends who INSIST on saying they are 5'10, with these stilettos there is the disclosure I will be 5'10 so there will be no lyin' to this blond! I know a bunch of y'all are 5'8/5'9.

To quote Ms. Hotfessional, Oh My Holy Hell Y'all!

*Yes, I will have to sacrifice an additional 3 pairs of shoes to the eBay/Charity bin as a form of penance.

My Confession...

My name is Lys and I'm a Stuart Weitzman Junkie...

I'm afraid of the time where I graduate to the big leagues - i.e. Gucci, Manolo, Choo and Loubou. My wallet is in shock. In the last 48 hours, I have not only scored a fabulous pair of red snake skin look peep toes, but also the shoe I've been coveting for the longest - the Stuart Weitzman Degadis. And, to add to that - the shoes that I thought were unavailable, the Vince Camuto oxford cut out suddenly became available. In my size. It's like the Universe is saying "You want it Lys, it's yours. You've been a good girl". Or, in the alternative, the Devil is tempting me going "G'head - spend money, Lys. You've been a good girl."

Nine West who? Steve Madden what? I'm now in the land of Weitzman, Camuto, Cole Haan and more. Damn you Nordstrom, SmartBargains and the outlets. And I've cash backed, couponed or scored deals on all. I mean, I do have to think of my wallet's feelings, right?Pictures forthcoming.

I'm heading down a dark dark road my friends.

Warning: New Additions To The Closet...

Smart Bargains hit again with some fabu sales which took the edge off a bit of my dramatic disappointment with Nordy’s Anniversary Sale. Check out the two new additions that are making its way to my closet:

Cole Haan – Air Elly Mary Jane Flat

Vince Camuto Peep Toe Oxford

I’m such a sucker for an Oxford shoe, especially one that is dramatically different so we’ll see how it works out. If it fits well, it stays. If not, as I’ve never seen a Vince Camuto shoe in my life before let alone try one one, it’s going back with the quickness.

And, yes, I cash back'd that sucker. Of course after I purchase, I get a coupon - go figure. I'll save it for next time.

It's [Nordstrom's] Anniversary...

(Remember that old Tony! Toni! Tone! track - Ahhh Good times. Good times)

Yup - it's about that time again. This weekend (well tomorrow) marks Nordy's Anniversary Sale and, while I was willing to look the other way yesterday in the interest of preserving my wallet's feelings, today I say "Tough Cookies." This is the only time I can get my products at the Super-sized versions that will last all year and, in turn, save me money and score a couple exclusives that I can find nowhere else.

Here's a few things I'm eyeing.

Philosophy Microdelivery Face Wash in the 24 ounce size (one 8 oz bottle costs $25 and I use it every other day. The other days I use the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Foam or regular)

Too-Faced's Tricks of the Trade Collection

Bobbi Brown's Cocoa Mauve Collection

Smashbox Socialite Beauty Collection

T3's Boost Travel Collection

M.A.C.'s Colour Form Lipstick

M.A.C.'s Colour Forms Pigment (I'm loving Pigments right now - oh the color is so rich!)
I'm a sucker for makeup brushes. I just bought one M.A.C. brush this week and that ONE brush was $30 (and it might be going back - still on the fence). For a bit more I could get 5 travel sized brushes

M.A.C. Brushes - Advanced
Now, more than likely, I'll probably return that brush I bought earlier this week, and allow myself ONE or TWO new goodies along with my standard fare and call myself happy. And if I'm REALLY smart, I'll shop online and get cash back as well. Hey - if they want to pay me to shop, who am I to say no? The sale starts tomorrow, July 18th so time is of the essence. Things sell out fast.

Make sure to check out the sale for yourself. You can find the link HERE.

Deal Alert: JVC Camcorder...

Lately, since I have my nifty little digital camera, I've found that I've been wanting a camcorder. Its great for gigs for my artists, for rehearsals (so they can see where they are needing *ahem* a bit of practice), for events, etc. When I went to Tampa, the one thing we REALLY needed was a camcorder - sadly, my old one is brokeity broke broke and we were s.o.l.

For the past few days, I've been looking at THIS camcorder online. I love the blue color (doh - I always love unusual colored electronic gadgets and it also comes in sassy red). The reviews are good, it's reasonably priced (better than some places I've seen it) and HSN has it broken down into payments AND I can get cash back. Hmmm..

Shoes or Camcorder. Shoes or Camcorder. Tough choices here.

Hello Lovah....

So last Friday, as I confessed to y'all, my girl Diane told me about Bluefly having *THE* Tortoiseshell shoes that I have been lusting after for basically forever - the Stuart Weitzman Fever pumps. Well, not only did Bluefly have them cheaper, but they were over $100 cheaper by the time I was done with coupons and cash back. Oh. My. Holy. Hell.

Saturday I get the email that they had shipped and knowing that I only did standard shipping. I started second guessing my purchase after reading reviews, looking at finances, etc. and was thinking - well, they'll be here in 7 to 10 business days and I'll decide then.

WRONG! OH So Wrong. As I got home tonight from the 9to5, there was a box in front of my apartment - just sittin' there. Normally I would be pissed as all hell for something left in front of my door but not tonight.

SO, behold my new lovelies which have found a new home with yours truly.

Bluefly went First Class!

Even the box had me at hello.

Breathtaking. The picture doesn't do it justice.

My first Carrie Bradshaw-esque shoe purchase. It's gonna take a few days of breaking in and blister block and getting used to the huge pointy toe but I can also justify it as self defense weapons, no?

I'm a SW convert, finally. The other shoes that I wasn't sure about keeping but yet hesitant about returning this morning are going back. That money is going back in the account. While the other shoes are pretty - they are not THESE shoes. And I'm thrilled with this purchase and so thankful to Diane for the heads up.

I'm in love... with my choos.

Redeemed From The Trenches: HSN...

Well, after the Priceline Debacle, I have to give kudos to where kudos is due. Gateway is STILL in the doghouse but you know what - HSN did right by moi.

After publishing the last blog, I decided to call HSN and find out what's holding up the whole process of the Battery Return. No surprise that Gateway still has not yet alerted them to the return. No surprise that Gateway, rather than sending it overnight, sent it ground and that, in and of itself, would have violated the terms of the return contract with HSN if I had not kept my paperwork. No surprise that Gateway didn't give them the "top secret code" that I had to lose my mind to get which is their internal reference. Thankfully, I have the little "tracking" slip that the FedEx Kinkos gave me (Gateway doesn't let you just go to a Fedex Facility - it HAS to be a FedEx Kinkos that closes early and won't be open on weekends for shipments) and through the wonders of CSR Angels: Michelle and Senior Supervisor Debbie, they both raised hell over at Gateway and *viola.* All of a sudden, Gateway said "Oh yeah - we got that ummmm... 2/15/08" Dingbat - I sent it back 2/11/08 and explained it to Debbie of the hoops that Gateway insisted I go through to return everything. And, I had the paperwork to back me up - timestamped and everything. Debbie didn't waste any time. Gateway was out of pocket.

Debbie took care of me and I did tell her what an ace they had with Michelle as a CSR. She really is a pro. Gateway should take notes from them. Again, like I said, good job deserves recognition. Bad job calls for retraining. Horrible job - let's not go there. Your gal needs to keep the blood pressure down. And, HSN believes in customer retention so she's going to talk to her higher-ups about the drama that way they can avoid that in the future. She's also applying the credits so that it can finally be taken care of (and USAA processes quickly so your gal will have the money in a flash).

In the interest of full disclosure, at the end of everything, Debbie did also give me a coupon for a future purchase which, under protest from me and refusals of "That's not why I called", she insisted on putting it on my account. Note that the coupon did not pull them out of the doghouse - the actions of Debbie and Michelle did. I buy other things from HSN like entertaining stuff from Colin Cowie, Huggable Hangers and Terry Lewis leather jackets (delish!). I don't go crazy spendy there, but I do browse from time to time.

And, looking out from above, my putting it out there of wanting a blue Fujipix digital camera for the trip. Not finding one in any store around town for reasonable prices (or colors - c'mon ORANGE? Do I look like an orange gal?) led me to find a lovely gem on HSN's site which I did get for the Philly trip (because y'all need pictures, right?). Plus, I applied cash back and the coupon which led it to be MUCH lower than Circuit City was wishing for. Already HSN had it for $60 cheaper than the one I saw in the store and so I upgraded my shipping and it will be here Monday. I was going to purchase it anyways but I was still on the fence.

Am I pleased with HSN - you bet. They weren't the idiots. Am I livid with Gateway still - yes, but I'll work through it. Will it affect me buying a Gateway again - sure. I refuse to deal with idiot customer service and sadly the Gateway call center was missing a few marbles. However, I'm not going to penalize HSN for the actions of one vendor. They are applying my credit which evens everything out.

Bad Day turned to Good Day. And, I'll be damned if I'm not going to make a lemon drop martini out of lemons when life hands me a big bowl.

Emerging From The Bowels of Hell, I Mean Florida Mall...

Last night, I emerged from the bowels of the Florida Mall a bit disappointed but comforted in the fact that my shopping could be done online. Why - because then I could coupon and cash back everything.

I went to Saks and found NOTHING. First of all - Saks, realize that you need to carry more plus size fashions than ONE CORNER (and a small corner at that). With all the retail space in your store, 2 small aisles that was smaller than a CLOSET does not suffice. Shame shame.

I went to Nordys and, while I saw many lovely dresses, the one that I was looking for (Contender No. 1) was NOT there. :::sigh::: I did see a gorgeous blue dress and a few others, but again - plus size formal fashion - more elusive than the Holy Grail my friends. I'm still looking - I got time. Lesson learned - a gal should always have a fabulous black cocktail dress that will go for any occasion. I'm also on the hunt for that. What can I say - I'm picky.

So, I did what any other disappointed wench would do - went shopping for shoes. And the ones I loved - not there. The gorgeous Justino sandals that I wanted to wear at the show - the girl at Nine West actually asked me "Are you sure they are ours?". Thank god for the Blackberry and a link on my blog because [BOOM] there it was on the 9West site. She even took my phone into the stockroom to see if she could find them back there. (She better not have called Zimbabwe or the Ukraine or some other foreign land.) Sadly - they didn't have but she did try to talk me into some pump that had a lucite heel. (Are you friggin' kiddin' me?? DOH!)

Those gorgeous spectator mary janes - Nordstrom had NO idea about anything even though it was on their site. I was told "I don't think they are here yet". Really? You don't say. The shoe manager wasn't even familiar with the brand and he even tried to point me in the way of the Juicy. Juicy and I are NOT friends, especially when it comes to the shoes.

So, home I went, and click I did. One of the highlights of my fervent clicking, searching and browsing - I found the Spectator Mary Janes at Urban Outfitters which is a cash back store and I also found a coupon for 20% off. Let's just say it was MUCH cheaper than at the Nordstroms site. Now I'll wear these with my well loved Chestnut Kiyonna dress currently in my closet and that will be dinner at the Ivy.

And, rather than investing in some pricey Louboutins (like I can - surely I'm suffering from delusions), I found the Steve Madden version on the cheap at SMART BARGAINS of all places. I knew there was a reason I'm a member of their Shoppers Club. It should be live on the site tomorrow (hopefully) but I'm wearing these to the awards. I'll be comfortable. I'll be taller (because the guys we're going with are taller than I. Hell - the way I feel today - Mickey Mouse is taller than me.) and I can boogie the night away while having a few cocktails courtesy of Mr. Open Bar. And then I can stumble across the street to the hotel, rest for a couple hours and then fly my happy behind home.

And, re: the Grammys - Kimmy, no, not famous - not. even. close. I had to giggle when I saw that comment last night. MB has it better - he's got the AMA's ON lock - I can't even get IN that joint. Basically, in a nutshell, my NARAS membership is a remnant of my entertainment publicist days. With our yearly dues, I get benefits such as a snazzy Christmas card, ability to attend workshops and panels for free (or minimal cost) (my NARAS regional office is in Miami and yeah - 4 hours to go to a producer panel - not. I do try to go to the Winter Music Conference soiree tho in Miami), fabulous discounts, ability to get insurance, etc. The main thing is the ability to purchase tix to the Grammys.

Listen - unless you are a nominee or a REALLY high up bigwig at NARAS, you are paying out the pocket to go to the show. One of my friends, a great producer and client, has been a member for years, votes every year, that boy even won a Grammy and, guess what, come award time - that boy is coming out the pocket for his tickets if he wants to go. We're allowed to buy 6 tix total - 4 cheap seats, 2 big pimpin', you might have to mortgage your child seats. And the member HAS to be in attendance or noone is getting in. The security is ridiculous. The other thing is we're not seated on the floor (bigwigs and nominees, presenters and entourage only), go backstage or any of that mess.

The afterparty is where the magic happens. Where else can you almost run (literally) into Kathy Griffin [she's short btw], have dinner prepared by Dinner Impossible's Robert Irvine, Top Shelf ANYTHING you can think of Open Bar, goodie bags, private performances by artists like Black Eyed Peas, Musiq Soulchild, John Legend, etc. and boogie your little heart out on the dance floor next to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I mean I saw people that evening that didn't phase me but when I had those two legends right next to me and I'm sans voice. When I told Producer Boy about it, he laughed at me. Now if he was AT the awards, I know he would have teased me unmercifully and then intro'd me to those two. Hell I could have intro'd myself - but I'm shy. I'm quiet. [Well, just then]. Reese is the confident one. I tend to shrink into my cosmo. But I will say this - when you are with some great people, it's a blast. Hell - if I knew THEN what I know now, I would have met Giada de Laurentiis because the Grammy Behind the Bash that they filmed was the one that Reese, MB and I were at. Fun times, fun times. Let me get off the memory lane ride now.

The 50th is the one I'm jazzed about because the buzz is they are going to go ALLLLL out. And this year - this year will be a good time. I'm looking at it this way - I get to attend the prom after being on punishment imposed by my wallet and other things for 2 friggin' long years. Also, I'm hoping that we can get into some of the other afterparties. I just need to get into gear contacting some old publicist buddies who I know will be either the door biatche or in control of that velvet rope.

We'll see. Now I have to figue out how to sneak the BB past the watchful eye of those damn security @*#*#*#.

Cyber WHA?

Day One (well technically Day Two) of the work thingy is done and over... 5 more days... (or perhaps more - I'll know more on Friday. Developments were happening like mad this morning and my head was spinning more than Britney on a dance floor.

But in my whole flurry of activity this morning and yesterday, I completely spaced out that today is Cyber Monday. And, of course, Ebates is doubling the cash back on EVERYTHING. Dammit - the one day I can't really shop. However, I did save about $30 on the CSI dvds and, perhaps I might pick up a little Principessa for a giveaway to some blog readers for the holidays. We're talking creme of the crop here store wise: Nordys, Bloomies, Macys, Sur, the whole shebang. And you get paid to shop - well, its a bit but still - every bit helps right.

Anyways - get started on your shopping early, won't ya. Check out Ebates here and, if you are interested sign up. You get a bonus, I get a bonus - it's all good :) And, like I've said before coupons and sales are good. Cash Back is even better!

Rockin' The Trench.. On A Budget..

Well quasi budget but still.. Tim Gunn's Guide to Style (Thanks Michelle!) states that every woman needs a basic trench. As I live in Florida, I have been on the fence about "to buy or not to buy". I mean, c'mon - I wear a jacket maybe a month out of the year unless I travel and it's always my gorgeous bronze leather coat from Terry Lewis (I know I know - Home Shopping HUH? But seriously, this woman rocks the leather and for a plus size gal to have a jacket that is so well made and classic - love it). Not to mention I did just purchase another leather jacket for future up north excursions.

Well, when Reese & I were in Philly, I encountered "THE TRENCH". You know when you fall in love at first sight and it's a mutual thing - The Trench was eyeing me, I was eyeing it and it was a tango of sorts. However, my finances wrestled my conscience and *sigh* it was not to be. The factoring decision: I live in Florida - what the heck do I need a trench for?

Again, need for a trench kept taunting me - from Tim Gunn's new show, to encountering a gorgeous sateen trench at Ashley Stewart to Igigi rockin' their trench, but would I really pay $99 for a coat I could get not much use out of. Again, the wallet spoke and the answer was "NO". (Actually the wallet told me to buy some shoes but again, later post).

This weekend, in cleaning out the wallet I found a gift card from Lane Bryant for $63 for a return I did some time ago of their city shorts (we'll get into the wonky sizing in another post). The Trench resurfaced in my thoughts again and I figured, "eeehh.. let me go look at it on the site". I couldn't see it in person because the Florida stores didn't see themselves getting it until December or so and that doesn't help me. Well, apparently Karma (or Tim Gunn) was on my heels because as I clicked into the site, I saw it was on sale - for $69.95. Now, y'all know me - I do not do any online shopping without a coupon or cash back (or both). I quickly put it in my cart as they had my size left in black and went to scour the net for some Lane Bryant Coupons. I found one for 20% off and quickly went through Mr. Rebates to check out.

Cost of The Trench after applying coupons, shipping, tax, and gift card: $5.80
Cash back total: $1.67
Overall Total Cost: $4.13

Cheaper than my Pumpkin Spice Latte (and just as toasty)...

The School of Cash Back...

Interesting Story: My dad called me the other day wanting to buy something online and, as he tells me about it, I told him to hold off for a day or so because not only would I find him a coupon, but he'd also get cash back for it.

At the 9to5, I've been told that I should "teach a class" on the art of the coupon/cash back so, grab your notebook people. Class is now in session.

First of all, there are three places you must sign up:

Now, each one has it's own pluses and minuses, and I personally tend to gravitate to Ebates & Mr. Rebates for most of my cash back deals. Fat Wallet needs to step up the game a bit (and we're still in a bit of a spat - long story).

Payments and Incentives:

Ebates pays quarterly which is always a nice little bonus and you get $5.00 for signing up (as do I). Mr. Rebates gives you a registration bonus of $2.50 (but they also seem to have the higher percentages) and for anyone you refer, you also get bonuses. Also, just fyi - the cash back is normally available in your account after 90 days. Prior to that it's pending.

Customer Service:

For the record, I have had NO problems with Mr. Rebates or Ebates at all and they are amazing. Fat Wallet is trying. They were really good once, and perhaps it was just a rep of theirs which soured me on the site, but I'll give them a shot again.

Shopping Mecca:

Pretty much I'd say about 80% of the stores I use online give cash back through one of these sites. (I'm still hoping that Kiyonna gets a clue). We're talking everything from shoes, to clothes, to DVDs & Movies, to Kitchen Stuff to even iTunes and Apple iPods/Computers! Some places let you buy it online and then go in and pick it up on your way home (Circuit City/Linens N Things/Best Buy). I even got cash back for my credit stuff through MyFico. The junk mail is very nil to none. Also, if you are truly curious, you can shoot me an email and I'll send a copy of my Excel Cash Back Comparison which I refer to first in my handy dandy budget file before any shopping is to be had. (Yes, I know - go ahead and roll the eyes).

Coupons:

Now, any shopping I do online, I really try to use a coupon or some sort of deal. Most of the sites also have a little button for coupons, but I always have to make my life a bit more "adventuresome" and scour the 'net. There are a host of online coupon sites i.e. Coupon Cabin, Ultimate Coupons, etc. Also, you can look through the forums at SlickDeals.net, FatWallet, etc. to maximize your dollar. But be careful with this as sometimes FatWallet will disqualify for use of a coupon.

So, with that, let's break for recess and if you have any questions at all, shoot me an email. I will be available for shopping counseling.

The Other CLs...

Remember These lovely "Must Have, Have to Have, My Shoe Collection Would Not Be Complete Without.. " (Well - this week's version anyways).

As they are Christian Louboutins, my wallet is saying "Hell NO! You need to get your inner PF Wench on and SAVE money - not blow part of the rent on damn shoes".

However, my inner fashionista was at war saying "But they are so PRETTY! You Must Have". Basically, one of my many internal struggles.

Well, with the ever so diligent Sarah of Pink Shoes Diaries fame on the case, my wallet is eternally grateful because Endless.com had "the other CL" aka Chinese Laundry pumps which were along the same style. Classy, elegant and oh so pretty. Take a look, aren't they nice?

Guess how much... seriously...

ON SALE for $29.89 marked down from $69.00. And Endless.com's shipping is a -$5.00. Yes, that's right - they PAY you to ship as they say. So, now it's $24.89. AND Mr. Rebates offers an 8% cash back, so really, I got them for about $22.90.

That's a savings of $667.10 from the original CL cost. Sometimes it's best for one's finances to go with "the other one".

Thanks again Sarah!

Shoes, Shoes and More Shoes...

Well, the Spectator Pumps came in from Nordys today and they are *fabulous* beyond compare. Again, very classy, yet another peep toe, but whatever. I've lusted after them and they are mine, mine, mine - all mine. And they were over 50% off from Steve Madden's original price tag. (And will be rocked tomorrow with this uber cute top I got from Lane Bryant which will be packed for the Philly Trip!).

One of the things that The Secret advises is to visualize the things you want - the things you want to achieve, whether its a new house, new car, toaster (that's totally mine but you see my point) and either put it together in a collage, book, something. Well, I did a Word document (because I figured I'd be nifty like that) and went through some of my lust items on the blog - just to try it out. (Yes, the CLs are on there but I need to start small, right?).

One of the things I ADORED were the Oh Deer! Wedges from Endless.com. I thought they were so unique and perfect for summer - just not at the $110 price tag. They would be perfect for one of my outfits in Philly and I could even wear them to work. Well, this weekend I noticed that they were on UrbanOutfitters.com for $75. Urban Outfitters doesn't have cash back nor a coupon but I'm thinking - perhaps in a week or two - I really want those but not now. Then as I'm browsing around the 'net this weekend I decided to check two of my go-to sites for shoes on the cheap: SmartBargains & Overstock.com. Guess what - we have a winner (well - Overstock had the winner). And they were $49.99. - That's well over 50% off. Now, with Mr. Rebates you get 5% back but I still was hedging..

Today, I just happened to check and there was a special promotion - 10% off Women's Shoes until 7/3 which would then bring the price down to $44.99. Plus, Mr. Rebates also offered an additional 7% off ($3.15) AND I get cash back ($2.90). Not a bad bargain at ALL. Basically, it's about $39.00. (minus tax & 2.95 for shipping)

All in all - it goes to show that if you envision, you will eventually come across. Sometimes Sooner. Sometimes Later. But you just have to be eagle-eyed about it because you NEVER know when it crosses your path - you might get it.

Wonder if it works for that BMW Convertible *LOL*

Fashion Challenge No. 3 Strikes Again...

Sarah issued Fashion Challenge No. 3 and I couldn't back down... Her rules: "Find an expensive designer outfit and recreate it for under $100".

Now - here's where I twisted it up a bit.

  1. It had to be an outfit that I would love to buy;
  2. It had to be based on a outfit that is for a "real size" actress (read, not Nicole Ritchie Skinny Mini size); and
  3. I had to have coupons or sales or something because, as you know, when one is plus sized, that extra yard of fabric for a Size 16/18 well - those lovely retailers love to tack on an extra $20+ or so.

SO - With that, may I present my style subject - Sara Ramirez from Grey's Anatomy. This shot was taken at a Grammy Party for Verizon Wireless and, the outfit - TO Die! I would rock that in a club in a heartbeat or out to dinner or hell - even shopping. However, the top that she's wearing - well, try finding that plus sized. Not happenin' (well it did during the winter but Lane Bryant was totally sold out). SO, with that in mind, here are my choices:

The top, courtesy of Lane Bryant - Sheer black flutter sleeve top. Gorgeous. And, Lane Bryant is offering 20% off purchases. Price: $44.50 - $8.90 = $35.60

Jeans, courtesy of Lane Bryant - Blue/black Boot Cut - perfection! Again, we've got 20% off and they are on sale. Price: $29.99 - $6.00 = $23.99

Now with that we need to rock a great pair of shoes, right... Payless is having their BOGO sale so that means we need to find a bag as well..

These delish rhinestone strappy sandals. Price: $19.99

And let's pop it with a clutch, shall we - this little lovely leopard number. Price: $14.99 - $7.50 = $7.49

Total Price over all: $87.07

Let's twist it up some more... let's see what the cash back totals are:

Total Cash back: $3.99

OVERALL TOTAL PRICE: $83.08

I think it falls within the Clinton/Stacey WNTW Rules as well, non? Now that I'm all shopped out, this gal needs a Starbucks Fix!

Happy Shopping! (And if you take the challenge, let me know - I'm curious now!)

Beauty Challenge: The Beauty Spectrum

Sarah at Pink Shoes Diaries has hit with another challenge - one that I find to be more daunting than the first. See, I'm the type of gal who, when faced with a beauty love, I stay with that product until it just doesn't work for me no mo'. And when I leave a product, I rarely revisit it once I've found something that works. Hey - if it isn't broke, don't fix it, right?

Prime Example - Jonathan Product. Long time readers, friends & family know that I am NEVER to be separated from my Jonathan product. I wouldn't be surprised if my family buries me with my trusty bottle of DIRT. Seriously, I've had great hair (well - I need a hair cut but that's another blog for another day) and haven't used anything BUT Jonathan Product since my discovery. Yes he cries alot. Yes, he's a whiny one. But, you can't deny - the man gives great hair! And, by extension of that, his product line does too.

In my hair care arsenal:

Total splurge:

On those days when a gal needs some va-va-voom hair:

For those days when you either A) Mess up or B) Running Short on time:

Now - again, I need to remind you - If you do get these - make sure to get cash back (Recommend Sephora or Beauty.com)!!! And - you only need a little bit - I'm STILL on my same jar of DIRT that I bought 2 years ago and only 1/2 of it is gone. Also - if you want to just try it out first - why not the travel sizes.

  • Bargain: Pre-Jonathan days and on the budget end, I used Pantene Pro-V products and Suave's professional Humectress type conditioner (something about that smell!) I apologize that I can't remember the names of the products. I did, once, dabble with some Prell but we will block that out, right?

Beauty go-tos:

Foundation:

  • There is no option for me - Bare Escentuals or bust. I will never do the liquid stuff ever again if I can help it. Don't have a bargain comparison for that as I think BE's quality is superior to most and have worn it for about 3 years and going now.

Mascara:

Eye Shadows

  • Indulgence: I must Must MUST have MAC Eye Shadow in Paradisco ($14.00). Its one of those shades that make blue eyes pop! But, most of MAC's eyeshadows has me at hello.
  • Bargain: I'm a fan of Rimmel London eye products as well when I want something fun and non-committal (and I won't kick myself for paying $14.00 for a color I don't like). Their liquid eye shadow is divine!

Lipgloss

  • Indulgence: Right now I'm wearing MAC Lipglass in BodyMind from the Raquel Welch collection ($14.00) LOVE It - but hate the sticky. Thanks to Sarah, I will check out Paula Dorf's line. Hair in lipgloss - notsoglamorous
  • Bargain: Again - Rimmel London Lipgloss in East End Snob ($5.39) I'm a fan of the light colors when it comes to the lips. Dramatic Eye/Light Lip is my motto

Lipstick

  • Indulgence: While I rarely wear lipstick - I love the packaging of the Raquel Welch collection by Mac and adore the Screenqueen lipstick ($14.00). I also keep MAC's XPosed in my makeup bag (which, after checking the site today seems to be discontinued).
  • Bargain: It's a bargain lipstick that has my heart: Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Lipstick in Birthday Suit ($5.89)

For the Bath...

Every gal has her weaknesses for the bath and lotions & potions are one of mine...

Hand Crème:

Facial Soap:

Facial Moisturizer

Shower Gel

Fragrance

  • Indulgence: Who can forget about Fragrance. While I have many I love, I'm going to select the top of all tops - the one I need and go to when I need to feel divine. Lollia's Breathe ($44.00). The bottle is gorgeous, the scent - fresh and feminine and worth every penny.
  • Bargain: I don't know if it is much of a bargain, but I did get Philosophy's travel size "Falling In Love" for about $15.00 in Vegas. This is one that I'll use in a small bag or when I want to switch it up a bit. Or, even better - get a small atomizer and fill it with your favorite scent. For $8.00 you have a travel size go anywhere vial of your favorite "get him on his knees" scent.

Now looking at this list, I've come to the determination that I'm not only an utter shoe junkie, but beauty products as well. There are definitely some things I don't scrimp on, and beauty products are one of them. (Along with my Achilles heel of shoes, Williams Sonoma, Pier1, etc. etc. etc.) While my friends joke and call my bathroom a fusion of Sephora & WalGreens/CVS, these items have built up over time - a little bit here, a little bit there. Also, most have been bought JusAnothaGal's way (online, coupons & cash back) and the wallet isn't screaming in horror, as much. If I bought it in one whole swoop - the wallet would immediately go into shock.

Wonder what challenge Sarah will think of next!!!
